Bitter Creek is a small unincorporated community located in Sweetwater County, Wyoming, United States. It's situated approximately 10 miles southeast of Rock Springs, Wyoming. It has a population of around 50-60 people. The town was named after a creek that runs through the area, which was so named because of its bitter water. Bitter Creek was established in the late 19th century as a stop for the Union Pacific Railroad. Today, the town is primarily a residential community with some small businesses and services. Bitter Creek is also known for its proximity to outdoor recreation opportunities, including the nearby Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area and the Killpecker Sand Dunes.
